Kooth gives young people free access to trained counsellors online, without needing a referral, a waiting list, or even their real name. Support is available through chat sessions, message threads, journaling and a moderated peer community.
It is commissioned by the NHS in many areas and is completely anonymous and confidential - young people can talk about anything from friendship worries and identity to anxiety and low mood.
How families can use it: young people sign up themselves with any email address; nothing is shared with parents or school. Many YLN learners find it easier to start a difficult conversation online, then talk it through with a trusted adult afterwards.
