National Autistic Society

Expert guidance on autism, including education support, diagnosis pathways and family resources.

The National Autistic Society (NAS) provides trusted information for autistic children and young people and their families. Its website covers understanding autism, the diagnosis process, choosing schools, and getting support written into an EHCP.

NAS runs a dedicated education rights service for parents in England and an Autism Helpline (0808 800 4104) with trained advisers. Local branches also offer face-to-face support and activities.

How families can use it: read the 'education' section if school is a struggle - it explains your child's rights and how to ask for adjustments. Their school refusal and sensory needs guides are particularly practical for families in our programme.
